Visitors to the New England Economic
Adventure learn about the substantial improvement in living
standards in New England over the past 200 years and about how economic
growth makes possible rising living standards. Visitors see how
life used to be in three earlier periods and try their hand at making
major decisions in the textile, bicycle, and computer industries
in New England. Visitors also enjoy changing
exhibits that complement the Adventure.
The latest changing exhibit is Garden Green, a collection demonstrating the beauty of plants in paintings, prints, photography, and sculpture.
Visitors may also be interested in the Economic
Education Laboratory, a free educational resource center
open to middle and high school teachers and students who want
to learn
about economics, economic history, and personal finance.
The Economic Adventure was created mainly for school groups to
visit, but it is open at designated times to other groups. It is
not open to individual members of the public or walk-in visitors.
Teachers interested in arranging a visit for middle or secondary
school students should see the Especially
for Teachers section for scheduling information. Other groups
wishing to visit should select Group Visits.
For more information on visiting the Adventure, take a look at
our full-color brochure.
